GLENCORE AND THE GREAT ARTESIAN BASIN
Glencore, one of the world's largest miners is proposing to capture carbon dioxide from it's Moonie gas field, liquifying the carbon and transporting it almost 200km to deposit the mine waste in the largest artesian water body in the world, the Great Artesian Basin covering 22% of the Australian continent.

There has been unified and diverse opposition to Glencore's proposal including from farming groups, town communities, conservationists and many scientists who are skeptical about the carbon capture and storage technology that Glencore is proposing to use. Carbon capture and storage has never been successfully applied to any meaningful extent anywhere in the world ...
